A second Snowden: More of imperialism revealed

The Drone Papers

Another whistleblower has released top secret documents.

The military calls unkown people it kills as 'enemies killed in action'

The White House’s publicly available policy standards state that lethal force will be launched only against targets who pose a 'continuing, imminent threat to U.S. persons.' In the documents, however, there is only one explicit mention of a specific criterion: that a person 'presents a threat to U.S. interest or personnel.'

"The frequency with which 'targeted killing' operations hit unnamed bystanders is among the more striking takeaways from the Haymaker slides. The documents show that during a five-month stretch of the campaign, nearly nine out of 10 people who died in airstrikes were not the Americans’ direct targets. By February 2013, Haymaker airstrikes had resulted in no more than 35 'jackpots,' a term used to signal the neutralization of a specific targeted individual, while more than 200 people were declared EKIA — 'enemy killed in action.'”

None of it is particularly surprising, just infuriating and sad...

As you say entriely predictable, Why do they calculate that this rate of failure is somehow worthwhile, It was counter-productive to their interests in Pakistan so why do they keep on? Probably to keep the likes of Al-Baghdadi ducking and diving. It is like a game between elites - the rest of us are "collateral danage". Just another facet of imperialist war inthe 21st Century?
